After the altercation that occurred between Golden State Warrior teammates Draymond Green and Kevin Durant, everybody is wondering if this season will be the last of the end of the Kevin Durant/Golden State era. We’ve heard what was said and how the players reacted, but this recent quote makes things a bit more interesting.
Chris Haynes from Yahoo Sports mentioned in his article what Draymond said to KD that may have led to his suspension:
This is the quote that will make Kevin Durant think even more about his free agency decision this upcoming offseason. After this season is over, KD will most likely be rocking three rings and will have placed three Finals MVP trophies on his mantel. Kevin Durant went to Golden State to dominate and win championships, and that’s exactly what he did. He can make it a clean sweep of 3-0 in the NBA Finals during his time in Golden State.
The thing is, Draymond isn’t wrong. Golden State doesn’t NEED Kevin Durant. What Kevin Durant NEEDS is to go to a team where he can start a new legacy. He NEEDS to go to his own team and lead them to a championship. What team would that be? Who knows. My guess is the New York Knicks, but it’s stupid to be guessing that now.
The fact of the matter is, Kevin Durant accomplished a whole lot in Golden State and is still going. He should take his three rings and trophies and dip. He doesn’t need his own teammate calling him a bitch over and over again when Draymond is the actual bitch in this situation.
I’m not saying this because I want the Warriors to break up (I do), but I’m saying this because Kevin Durant will no longer be public enemy #1 if he leads his own team to become championship contenders. He’ll gain respect back from basketball fans, have all that hardware from Golden State, and laugh all the way to the bank with the hundreds of million dollars he’ll be making. Do the right thing, KD.
